Sunday Art Journaling Challenge December
Well did you know Dyan does home learning? Well she did today. I was not able to get to AFTH due to the snow and a car that does not like the snowy driveway with its minute incline! Anyway I rang to apologise for not going and was set today's challenge. I have used Dylusion sprays and paints and made far too many trees for my moleskin so they have gone in my ledger journal. Hope I understood the instructions Dyan?

What;s in it then?
Well, its one of the circle journals which was a surprise to me as I thought I had finished all of them. Can't show you or it would spoil it for ???.
After a long pause I have finally uploaded October and November after a gentle reminder!!! I am very excited at the thought of being a grandma. Baby is due 28th November but that could mean sooner or later. Liz looked at the November page and said I'm not that big, she is right but the smaller mushroom top didn't look right!

Postie surprise
This lovely parcel arrived today complete with scrabble type pieces on the cover. Not sure what they were attached with but it must be strong to withstand the riggers of the Royal Mail!

Doodle Week!
Just been doodling this week using 4 black pens. Then added background colour to the bird. Handy to carry about for a spare 5mins here and there. Not sure what to journal on the circles yet. The circles were inspired from another blog I saw a few months ago but can't remember which one sorry.

Banish your Skeletons
Had a lovely day on Sunday Art Journaling at AFTH the challenge being Skeletons and monsters. I thought I was going to struggle as I don't do halloween and the stamps were on that theme. Just used the cobweb and a very small skeleton disappearing of the page. Everyone laughed at my spider which looked a bit like a cow on Sunday but I've plumped it up as it has eaten all the flies, and hopefully now it looks, yes I know nothing like a spider still. I now have to clean my act up! Wonder how long I will be able to keep it up? I'm not telling what's in the secret pocket though!

Journaling
I have allowed myself some time this last fortnight to journal.
Bit of a mixed bag really as its been challenging this week
BUT I have been helped by journalling.
Looking forward to my AFTH fix.
The colours have photographed a little dark for some reason.

What's that in my hand?
I bet you can't guess until I say I've spent a lovely afternoon in my garden yesterday doing a bit of weeding and pruning. Have you got it yet? Clue picture below.....
The background was created using Altered Original Spray ink (now renamed Dylusions)Granite mixed with Blonde Moments pearl powder Festive Candy. Mixing your own is much better than ready prepared ones because you can mix so many combinations for your money. A hear that some new colours and other new products are being launched at next weeks GNPS next weekend.
Bank Holiday Monday was also spent in the garden without extras! The background was done at the last Sunday Journaling class at AFTH and finished on 24th August with the journaling added last Monday. It's good to have a selection of backgrounds prepared so you can journal at will.

Dina Weekend
Had a fantastic weekend earlier this month when Dina Wakley came to AFTH. We had excellent teaching on adding many layers to your work to give it depth. These two pieces I did in my old ledger journal. More to follow...
Grandma's Pram
Well I'm ready now this has arrived. I just need to wait for the baby. Only 12 weeks to go. Can you tell I'm getting excited?
Here's One I Made Earlier
Had a great time at AFTH on 20th July making a canvas graffiti bag. We sprayed with Altered Originals (16 colours now to choose from) added colour with Blonde Moments Paint, masks, gesso and doodling were added, eyelets put in and then laced up. There was use of the sewing machine inserting a lining and top stitching which was a new experience for some. Everyone did very well producing their bags, and they were worthy of taking out as a summer accessory. A great day which SHOULD BE REPEATED.
This second bag was made at AFTH at the 50th Birthday celebrations for Sandy Poppins. A great idea for a party with a difference. We were all thinking about Dy on the night and hoping she was well enough to go home, which thankfully was the case. We did miss you Dy but embarked on the evening in the very capable hands of Katie. Again everyone made bags that would enhance an outfit. And a fun evening was had by all. We were all given party bags which contained Starbucks cards loaded and ready to go. When they have been used we all have a memento to keep by using them as 'splogers' in future art work! Thank you Sandy.
July has long gone.....
Well that summer went in the blink of an eye. Late again with my challenge, but here is July.
August is up to date and done in Dina style well sort of. And guess what surprise September is READY to go when I can decide how many days there are in September. At my last count there are only 28! See for yourselves..... Now how does that little rhyme go: 30 days hath...

Image transfer
Just worked through the tutorial on "Got paint in my hair" only I had to sub the packing tape for 2" wide sellotape (because I haven't any packing tape) which it appears works as well. It is slightly grainy but that adds to the texture. Thank you Clare.

Oodles of .... Peel Offs
Only managed 11 backgrounds yesterday! The class was busy with regular faces and new ones. Dy took us through loads of techniques. We can all now get our balls jumping off the page. But the big surprise technique was using peel off yes you read it right Dy was teaching us to use peel offs........ with Altered Originals Dye Inks, book pages, gesso, Distress Inks, Dabbers and a range of paints I haven't used before Blond Moments Acrylic Lustre Paints. What I cannot work out is how I have missed them when attending AFTH for 2 years? Even better they are on offer, I think it was 3 for £7.50. The paints have a great lustre and are a rich creamy consistency. On this background we stuck on bits of book page distressed the book page added gesso, lustre painted, dabbers and sprayed through masks and used the negative as well from the mask to build up a layered background.....
The second background has fewer layers but still with loads of interest I mixed Granite - Altered Originals Ink with Festive Candy Pearls to give a two tone spray, again used both the positive and negative of the mask.
The new inks are definitely essential tools we all NEED.

June - Sunday Journal Challenge
We had to choose a colour I chose turquoise but not journaled on the page yet. Not much space for writing! Borders from magazines.
Doodle 2. . . more . . .
These are a couple of backgrounds done on Doodle 2 ready to journal later. The background colour is mainly some new spray inks. Yes very soon. The colours are bright and vibrant. These pictures do not show the vibrancy of the colours. Have a look at Dyan's blog - inky journal.

Doodle 2. . .
Doodle 2 day was last Thursday with Dyan. Fab day we picked up loads of different styles and techniques including adding people to a page when you cannot draw!
Journal Weekend at AFTH
Enjoyed a weekend away recently at AFTH just journalling. One of the projects we did started by choosing a colour. When we had all chosen we were told what we had to do with that colour.... find different textures of that colour in magazines and make a border with them. I chose PINK . . . . .
Coffee!
Recently acquired a coffee machine and am enjoying tasting different blends. I am only allowed a max of 2 cups a day so I thought I may as well have a better taste than instant..... and yes it is a much better flavour. So I journalled about it......
May - Sunday Journal Challenge
We were given a challenge at the May Sunday Journal Class at AFTH to journal a page using the road sign to Twatt which may offend some people, but, as it is not the correct spelling of the slang word I hope very few will take offense. The people who live there are obviously quite at home with it!! Check out other submissions from Kate and hopefully Pat will upload hers.

Just finished the tags I made on Tuesday at AFTH. We had a fun morning making these out of very limited resources. We had a sheet of card to make the tags, and old book page, an old dictionary page and the use of the Stampotique range of stamps and Claudine's Studio Line paints.

16th May Sunday Journaling. The challenge today was to use Dyan's downloads to create a border. Firstly used dabbers to create a background and then picked bits from the downloads with similar colours in them. I opted for pink and turquoise. Just need to do the journaling bit! My second page was done in sepia tones using book pages and bits of stamping and maya road clocks. It was another fun day with plenty of humorous stories. The man in Bradford running off with the box with a dead dog in when he thought it contained a computer was the best. But not for the dog!!!!
